What is ThinClient

ThinClient is a low cost - centrally managed computer. (that server is generally called Application server). It generally does not have any type of Disks, CDROM etc.

It uses computing resources of server and not client. As a result the performance of client machine is not dependent on the client hardware, rather it is dependend on the server hardware.

Now the question arises: Will my server slow down if all the clients load is on my server ?
Absolutely not, is the correct answer.
Why ?
Because when you a normal P4 machine (even your laptop - you never use more than 1% to 4% of the P4 CPU power) it means that if 20 people are using that computer simultaneously, there is no harm in it.

ThinClient computing is not just sharing of Desktop - it is very Advanced solution, where you have compelte security and privacy of data. IN FACT IT IS MORE SECURED THAT FAT CLIENT ENVIRONMENT.

ThinClients are of two types - diskless or with embedded OS. - Enjay offers both solutions.

ThinClient PC is not suitable for stand-alone use, however We have Enjay Impression range of products, which can be used stand-alone also. 2.5" Laptop HDD and XP or Linux can be installed - we have tested it and it works perfectly well.

Thinclient is not suitable for following applications:

Heavy graphics - like photoshop, corel draw or autocad.
Animation - 2D or 3D.
Heavy Multimedia applications (Web flash animation is OK - it works fine)
Gaming PC
Stand alone PC @ my home cannot be thinclient.

ThinClient is suitable for following Applications:

Any office applications
Any accounting package
Any client / server application
All types of ERP - even SAP can be run on ThinClients.
Any DOS Application (Enjay supports full screen DOS)
