Congratulations! Thanks for selecting Enjay Synapse Solution for your Telephony requirements, which features IVR, Call reporting, Call recording, outward conference & many more features for your organization.
Everything is working fine. Happy life for your company. But what happens if your server crashes or your hard disk got damaged or upgrading server hardware. If you have only a single synapse server and unfortunately it got crashed.
You can imagine the worst situation happening in your company. Customer doesn’t get the support & employees have the reason for not doing work & many more worst situations which are hard to handle.
What is important data in the telephony server that needs to be backed up?
- Configuration data
- Extensions for your office, IVR, music on hold, incoming calling rule, etc. which you might have configured on the server.
- This also includes all the customization that you might have done.
- Usage Data: Call Report & Recording
- It may be one of the reasons to buy the synapse server. This information is available in form of Call reports (Database) and recording files (.wav files)
The Solution: Enjay Backup OS License (Module)
There are two redundancy options for you.
Enjay Provides additional OS and additional license, which can be installed on any HDD, and then that HDD can be used for backup purpose. That HDD can be used in two ways:
- The backup hard disk is in the same Server (to recover from the HDD crash).
- One more backup server (to recover from the entire Server Crash).
How it works:
The backup hard disk is in the same Server.
- Backup Process:
- Enjay Synapse Server is working on the Primary hard disk.
- One more HDD is attached and activated as backup HDD, where Configuration and Usage Data both are copied every 10 minutes from the main HDD.
- Configuration data is also backed-up every night in 7 separate folders by day names, so that at any given point of time there is the last 6 days’ configuration available. (this helps when configuration gets messed up and you want to revert)
- At present the Backup Process is done thru Back-end script activation, there is NO UI option for the same, so users / Dealers cannot activate the same. But Enjay Team members can get it done.
- This Backup Module is charged Extra.
- Recovery Process:
- If Primary Hard Disk fails, you can make your backup hard disk as a Primary Hard disk.
- Note: In case your Motherboard needs replacement, you will need to get the license file from Enjay, Which we will send you on request.
- Your telephony starts working within 5 minutes of downtime.
- Now you have made your backup hard disk your primary hard disk.
- You have already removed your crashed hard disk.
- Next Step:
- Now when you get a new HDD, the Synapse OS is needed to be installed on the new HDD, for which you will have to send the HDD to Enjay – (Recommended)
- Alternatively, we can give you an OS Image for download, and then you may install it on your own – if you have the technical capabilities (Not recommended)
- As soon as you attach this second HDD to the server, the backup process will start automatically. (No intervention required from Enjay or Client side).
Server with one more backup server.
This is useful when entire Infrastructure Disaster Recovery is required, downtime is very very low in this case.
- Backup Process:
- You have a working synapse server which we called a primary server.
- We put another Synapse Server, which we called a backup server (this backup Server has the backup HDD). eg:
- Server A- 192.168.1.51 (Primary server)
- Server B- 192.168.1.101 (Backup server)
- Now the replication of your data from the primary server to the backup server will be the same as the first option (ie. in the case of 2 HDD).
- At present the Backup Process is done thru Back-end script activation, there is NO UI option for the same, so users / Dealers cannot activate the same. But Enjay Team members can get it done
- Recovery Process:
- So now if your primary server fails, you can make your backup server a primary server.
- You have to remove pri line from your primary server and connect it to your backup server.
- Also, you have to change the IP address of your backup server same as your primary server (eg. 192.168.1.51).
- Your backup server becomes your primary server within 5 minutes of downtime.
- Now, when you recovered your crashed server, it becomes your backup server.
- Give the IP address (192.168.1.101) of your backup server to your recovered server.
- Next Step:
- Now when you get a new Synapse Server (or primary Server is up again), the Synapse OS is needed to be installed on the new HDD, for which you will have to send the HDD to Enjay – (Recommended).
- NOTE: if the original Primary Server becomes live again, the Data sync will have to be done manually, which will be done by Enjay Team Member.
- Alternatively, we can give you an OS Image for download, and then you may install it on your own – if you have the technical capabilities (Not recommended)
- As soon as you attach this second HDD to the server, the backup process will start automatically. (No intervention required from Enjay or Client side).
